In fact, our annual Drive for a Difference community outreach campaign has allowed us to expand our charitable efforts, providing new opportunities to volunteer and raise donations for a variety of causes. The 2022 Drive for a Difference was a great success, raising a record-breaking $155,000 for local charities within the community, such as Eblen Charities, Hearts With Hands, UNC TEACCH Autism and Hope Chest For Women to name a few.

About Anderson Automotive 

Founded in 1955, the business has grown from humble beginnings to be currently ranked as the 69th largest dealership group in the nation, based on 2015 retail units sold, according to Automotive News "Top 125 Dealership Groups." Fred Anderson, the company's then CEO, got his start in 1970 at the age of 21, when he became the youngest Chevrolet dealer in the country. "I thought I knew a lot about running a dealership, but I really didn't," tells Fred Anderson. After assembling his team, Mr. Anderson and his employees set out to learn the business together. This pattern of learning and growing is a key part of the Anderson Automotive Group to this day. "That environment is still what we try to do today - it creates energy and optimism and we try to hold on to that."

After becoming one of the largest volume GM dealers in western North Carolina, the group started to expand with the acquisition of Nissan and Chrysler-Dodge dealerships in the early 1980's. The really big, important break came in 1987 when Mr. Anderson was awarded the opportunity to open a Toyota dealership in Raleigh, NC. Through years and years of hard work and dedication, that Toyota store has become the flagship operation of Anderson Automotive Group and one of the largest volume dealerships in the Southeastern United States.

Anderson Automotive Group has continued to grow over the years, and now employs over 900 people. Along with new Toyota facilities in Charleston and Columbia SC, the company has just completed construction of two brand new Nissan facilities in Raleigh, NC. Fred Anderson has commented that, "We're not building car dealerships, we're building class-A retail establishments. We try to create places where the most talented people want to come to work and where customers can come and feel special.” Many things have changed over the years, but the Anderson Automotive Group culture has remained constant.
